Children benefit tremendously by having their parents around more. Time that was previously spent gathering necessities can now be spent at home.

Walking to work can take 3 hours or more. By bicycle it’s only a 40 minute trip. This means more time spent with one’s family and money saved on transportation.

A nurse who has a bike can treat 10 patients in one day, while on foot she can see only 3. Her time is spent focused on patients, not the clock.

Projects Our Products

ZAMbikes:

Amaka Sana: The Amaka Sana 2010 bicycle is the highest quality consumer bicycle in Zambia. Amaka Sana, meaning "very strong" in Bemba, is the first bicycle in Zambia to bear a local brand name. The reliable Amaka Sana guarantees to keep the rider on the road and away from constant bicycle repair and maintenance.

Njovu: In 2010 Zambikes introduced the Njovu long bike. This bike is the “20 ton truck” of bicycles and the first of its kind. Njovu, in Chewa meaning “elephant”, is certainly a leader in cargo bicycles. With this bike, pursuing a transportation business is almost inevitable. The Njovu can carry 3 grown men or over 200 kilograms of cargo easily.

ZAMbulance:

The Zambulance trailer is manufactured within Zambia to address specific medical needs. It is now possible to easily transport patients from their homes to a clinic in a comfortable and accessible ambulance trailer. The Zambulance attaches to any bicycle or can be pushed manually. Patients are no longer forced to travel to health centers on ox carts or in wheelbarrows.

FACT: In a study by the World Bank, each Zambulance, on average, will save one life every 10 trips. There are, on average, 2-3 trips per day on the Zambulance. That means that one life is saved every 5 days with each Zambulance

FACT: 365 days a year / 5 days = avg. 73 lives per year per cart

FACT: Each ZAMbulance costs $400 ($400 donation / 73 lives saved per year = only $6 to save a life!)

ZAMcart:

Zambikes has introduced the Zamcart to cater to individual farmers, marketeers and small businesses. The Zamcart attaches easily to any bicycle and can support a load of up to 250 kilograms. The Zamcart is the ultimate solution to ensure goods will reach their destination efficiently and securely.

ZAMboo:

With few products “made in Zambia,” Zambikes builds a quality product out of resources native to Zambia: the bamboo bicycle. While this one of a kind bicycle offers a comfortable ride and plenty of attention from even the most novice of cyclists, the bamboo bicycle is also helping to change lives. The bamboo bicycle is the greener solution for a world searching for answers to our tragic pollution problems. Even more, the ZAMboo Project provides employment opportunity for more than 10 Zambians who otherwise would not be able to provide for their families. Each bike is handcrafted by some of the most skilled bamboo bicycle manufacturers in the world, requiring more than 40 hours of work per frame.

Join the movement and help give opportunities to local Africans by buying your own bamboo bike today! (Include link to purchase/order a bamboo bicycle)

ZAMjobs:

Zambikes employs local Zambians to comprise their manufacturing, management, sales and training teams. Zambikes also offers a Mechanic Training School with three levels of training, ranging from basic use and care of a bicycle to advanced mechanic's skills needed for detailed maintenance and repairs.

ZAMparts:

Zambikes is pleased to offer a wide variety of high-quality bicycle spare parts and accessories to both individuals and large organizations.
