Dustin McBride – Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
After graduating from Azusa Pacific University with a degree in International Business, Dustin partnered with Vaughn to co-found Akerfa and its first social business project in Zambia, Zambikes. Living in Lusaka, Zambia, Dustin’s familiarity with transportation solutions in the developing world has been the backbone for Akerfa’s growth since its inception. Dustin provides leadership training and professional consultation to the Zambikes management team and sales and marketing teams. In this focus, Dustin has helped to grow Zambikes and its product market to be one of the most well-known and sought after transportation solutions in Zambia specializing in trailer products and superior customer service. His discernment and strength in leadership development and business and skills training has allowed him to enhance the lives of more than 40 Zambikes team members.

Vaughn Spethmann – Chief Operations Officer (COO)
Vaughn has been working on developing world transportation solutions for almost 5 years and has been at the helm of scaling up and producing new ideas for bamboo bicycles and medical and cargo entrepreneurial trailers. Living in Lusaka, Zambia, Vaughn and co-founder of Akerfa, Dustin McBride, have started and maintained Akerfa's first enterprise, one of the most successful bicycle manufacturing and mechanic facilities in all of Africa, called Zambikes. In 2007, Vaughn graduated from Azusa Pacific University with a degree in International Business.

Daryl Funk – Product and Partnership Development Director
From his home in Denver, Colorado, Daryl has been designing and fabricating professional mountain bikes for more than 25 years. In 2004, Daryl moved into designing transportation solutions for the developing world, beginning with one of the first long-wheel-based water carrier bikes for Mexico, Guatemala and Kenya. He joined the Akerfa team in 2007, and continues to provide unparalleled leadership and experience in the development of the Zambikes bicycles and bicycle trailers. Daryl utilizes his talents and expertise to actively pursue his mission to provide affordable, quality transportation to the developing world. With extreme compassion and technical insight, Daryl mentors and trains the Zambikes team in manufacturing products of the highest quality.


Mwewa Chikamba – Zambikes Director and Logistics Manager
Mwewa, one of four Zambikes founders, has been instrumental in the development of Zambikes by overseeing all logistical operations. He brings extensive experience and great rapport from within the motor industry in to his current position. Mwewa is happily married with two sons.

Geshom Sikaala – Zambikes Director
Geshom, also one of four founders, has worked with several international Christian organizations. He currently serves as spiritual advisor and cultural coach for visitors who come to Zambia through Zambikes.

Viera Funjika – Accountant
Viera is an original member of the Zambikes team who has grown in experience and responsibilities alongside the company. Her prior experience working with non profit organizations and her current pursuit of an MBA have prepared her to successfully oversee and manage all financial accounts.

Chiteu Muyoya – Marketing Manager
Chiteu joined the Zambikes team in the spring of 2009 following the completion of her Law degree. Over the last year she has strategically maximized all sales opportunities, helping Zambikes experience substantial growth. Chiteu draws upon prior experience with non profit organizations and marketing experience with an international bank for her role as the Zambikes Marketing Manager.

Divilance Machalika – Zambikes Construction Foreman
In two year’s time, Divilance rose from a member of the Zambikes land development team to the foreman of the team. His diligence and drive to learn led him to attend construction school in 2009 to further his knowledge and skills in construction management. Under Jeffrey Robertson’s direction, Divilance proved to be a vital asset in the construction of all three buildings on the Zambikes land.
