More than 35 local and global vendors will gather on Saturday, September 5 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for the inaugural Global Community Market at the Poinsettia Village Shopping Center. The market will feature authentic cultural creations such as hand-made Peruvian sweaters, Acholi beaded jewelry from Uganda and Asian scarves and purses that will benefit low-income artisans, microenterprise programs and fair trade vendors from around the globe.
Additionally, 100 percent of the proceeds will go directly to each vendor and non-profit organization selling crafts and goods to raise awareness of their cause including San Diego-based Foundation for Women, Not for Sale Campaign and International Rescue Committee. The Global Community Market will be held on the south side of the shopping center in front of Todo Sushi and The Country Feed Store at 7170 Avenida Encinas, Carlsbad, Calif.
